Ahmad Bradshaw seemed to back away a little from his agent's recent overtures about the Miami Dolphins, telling ESPN Radio on Monday night that he "loves New York more than anything" and wants to remain with the Giants.
Still, the running back allowed, "if the Dolphins are interested, I've got to look at my options."
That's because Bradshaw, a four-year pro, could become an unrestricted free agent when the NFL lockout is lifted. And his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told WSVN-TV on Sunday that Bradshaw is "training here in Miami and would be very interested in the Dolphins," according to ESPNNewYork.com.
The Dolphins might be in the market for a running back if they lose Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams in free agency.
Bradshaw, 25, is spending his offseason in South Florida, training and recovering from surgery that he had in mid-February to clean out his left ankle. And with the lockout lingering, Bradshaw is left to wonder where he'll play next season.
"It's a process," Bradshaw said of his potential free agency. "All I can do is just stay focused. I just wanted to play football. I love the game. I'm working hard right now, my agent is doing his job, and hopefully we can settle something soon."
Although he didn't attend the Giants' voluntary workouts at Hoboken (N.J.) High School in May, Bradshaw said he has kept in contact with wide receivers Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham and fellow running back Brandon Jacobs during the lockout.
"We just want to play together and have fun," said Bradshaw, who led the Giants with 1,235 rushing yards last season. "Football is the best sport ever. We're just hoping there's a season this year."
