Rooney says he's likely retain post as ambassador to Ireland

Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney said Friday that he'll likely remain U.S ambassador to Ireland for another year.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazettereported that Rooney, whom President Barack Obama appointed to the post two years ago, was in town to help unveil the Steelers' 2010 highlight film.

Rooney told the Post-Gazette that after campaigning in Western Pennsylvania during Obama's 2008 run to the White House, he'll "maybe" stump for the president again in 2012.

"I'm not allowed to say that, nor is he," Rooney said.

Rooney and his wife plan to return to Dublin after another week in Pittsburgh, according to the newspaper.
