Bengals focused on Dalton; 'Fins, Raiders like Kaepernick

NEW YORK -- The Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals are among the teams still searching for a quarterback entering the second round of the NFL draft.

TCU's Andy Dalton, Nevada's Colin Kaepernick and Arkansas' Ryan Mallett are the most prominent quarterbacks remaining, and all should be picked Friday, with at least one or two of them likely to go at the top of the second round.

There could be a trade up, even to the New England Patriots' round-opening pick at No. 33, if a team decides to make the leap.

The Bengals have displayed strong interest in Dalton throughout the process and have him targeted in the second round. I don't expect him to last past that spot. Dalton also is high on the Redskins' list.

Kaepernick was seriously considered at No. 15 by the Dolphins, and if Miami can acquire a second-round pick, the Nevada passer would be the target, according to sources. Oakland also is enamored with Kaepernick and might explore options to trade up in the second round to pick him.

The Bills, Bengals and Dolphins also have spent time on Mallett. Some executives wonder if Mallett will end up going in the third round rather than the second, and the possibility for another quarterback-driven trade is very real.
