Colts hire Walker from Maryland to coach running backs

The Colts dipped into the college ranks to hire David Walker as running backs coach, University of Maryland coach Randy Edsall told the *Indianapolis Star* on Wednesday.

Walker was on Edsall's staff for just three weeks, joining the Terrapins after six seasons coaching running backs at the University of Pittsburgh. Before that, Walker coached the position at Syracuse for 10 seasons.

"He just got the opportunity to go to Indianapolis," Edsall said.

Walker will replace Gene Huey, who was fired after 19 seasons as the Colts' running backs coach.
