Bolts cut Ellison after arrest for possession of controlled substance

The San Diego Chargers released safety Kevin Ellison Monday, according to league sources.

Ellison, a sixth-round pick in 2009, started nine games last season, recording 52 tackles and one sack.

He was arrested on a drug possession charge in May when he was found with 100 pills of Vicodin during a traffic stop. He is set for a July court hearing.

Also Monday, the Chargers announced the release of DT Ian Scott, FB Cory Jackson and WR Jordyn Jackson.
