Trent Green struggled in his Dolphins debut, throwing for just 60 yards.
It was over when
Miami head coach Cam Cameron didn't want to extend the first preseaon game of the season into overtime by kicking the extra point, so he had Patrick Cobbs follow up his three-yard touchdown run with a two-point conversion. Josh Scobee had a chance to put Jacksonville ahead, but he missed a 43-yard field goal with 46 seconds remaining.
Game balls
Byron Leftwich made a solid preseason start, connecting on 7-of-10 throws for 78 yards. He picked up a key first down on third and long and then threw to Dennis Northcutt for the Jaguars' first touchdown in the second quarter. Miami's RB Jesse Chatman carried the ball six times for 88 yards, including one for 74 yards.
Key stat
Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew don't need to be worried. Jacksonville backup RB LaBrandon Toefield fumbled twice, losing both balls to Miami. The Dolphins were able to convert one of the turnovers into three points.
Noteworthy
Trent Green had a less-than-stellar debut as Dolphins quarterback. He completed just 6-of-15 passes for 60 yards and recorded the game's only interception.
