Week 9 of the NFL season opens with a classic AFC West matchup ... at least on paper. Both the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers have underachieved this year, which means they could be desperate and hungry this week. Which is just how fantasy owners like their players.

Analysis: The Chargers should be playing with a measure of urgency, but it won't make Philip Rivers any less of a risky play. When these teams met in Week 4, Rivers posted a ho-hum 14.36 points -- it may not be much better this week. Look for Ryan Mathews to run for close to 100 yards while the San Diego defense harasses the turnover-prone Matt Cassel. Expect Kansas City to feed Jamaal Charles heavily this week (provided they don't find themselves in a big hole early)
