Eagles 2013 philadelphia eagles Fantasy Preview

The 2012 season was a major disappointment for the Eagles, both on the field and from a fantasy standpoint. Michael Vick (27th - 151.68 points) was the highest-scoring player on the roster, and he finished a meager 65th among all players based on points. The player who was the biggest bust from a statistical perspective was LeSean McCoy (21st - 145.30 points), who missed four games with a concussion and couldn't break the top 20 players at his position. Fortunately, the addition of new coach Chip Kelly should mean a bounce-back season for the veteran runner. Neither Jeremy Maclin (26th - 125.70 points) nor DeSean Jackson (60th - 81.30 points) broke the top 25 among wideouts, but there's hope for both with Kelly calling the shots in 2013. With that being said, there might not be one player on this roster outside of McCoy who fantasy owners can draft with confidence.

FACT: Jackson's fantasy point totals have decreased in each of the last four seasons.
Offseason Moves

The Eagles didn't add a lot of impact makers on the offensive side of the football, as Dennis Dixon and Arrelious Benn were among the bigger names to land in green and white. Rookie Zac Ertz will have a tough time making an impact behind Brent Celek and James Casey. The team cut ties with a pair of former defensive superstars, as CBs Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are now gone. From a fantasy standpoint, however, the signing of Kelly - and not any one player - could be the biggest move. His offenses at Oregon were explosive and prolific - especially for quarterbacks and running backs - so there's clearly hope that the likes of Vick and McCoy can turn back the clock and post improved numbers compared to their individual 2012 totals.

Sleepers & Busts

The Eagles don't have any traditional sleepers, but Vick could turn into a nice draft bargain in Kelly's offense. Still, his proneness to injuries makes it tough to trust him as more than a high-end No. 2 fantasy quarterback. Bryce Brown could exceed his draft position, but McCoy is still the main man in this backfield. Jackson hasn't been the same from a statistical perspective since his big breakout season of 2009. Despite his name value, he shouldn't be drafted as more than a third wideout in most fantasy leagues. His draft-day value did see an uptick when Maclin tore his ACL during training camp, however.
