Vikings 2018 minnesota vikings Fantasy Preview

Plenty of fantasy analysts were enamored with the Vikings offense entering last season. While the purple people did not disappoint, it didn't happen the way many anticipated. Raise your hand if you predicted Case Keenum would be a top 15 quarterback. That surprise turn of events happened after Sam Bradford went down in Week 2 with a knee injury that put him on injured reserve. Rookie running back Dalvin Cook was off to a great start when he tore his ACL in Week 4. That opened the door for Jerick McKinnon to shine as a dual-threat running back option while Latavius Murray filled in admirably running inside. What did go according to plan was the production of the team's top two receivers. Both Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs were top 20 fantasy receivers, with Thielen leading the way thanks to a breakout 1,200-yard season. While Diggs had fewer catches and yards than the previous season, he doubled his career-high with eight touchdowns. The Vikings defense retained its reputation as one of the NFL's toughest units, though it didn't translate to fantasy points. A middling number of sacks and turnovers kept the Vikes out of the top 10. The roster overwent notable change in the offseason but the expectations remain for the offense to be a source of fantasy production.

Offseason Moves

They say that when you have three quarterbacks, you really have none. That was true for the Vikings, who saw Keenum, Bradford, and Teddy Bridgewater leave in free agency. But Minnesota landed the biggest free agent prize of the offseason by signing Kirk Cousins. Jerick McKinnon left Minnesota and headed west to join the 49ers, a loss that should be offset by the healthy return of Dalvin Cook.

Sleepers & Busts

There are few unknown quantities in the Minnesota offense, though one could make a case that after two unremarkable seasons, Laquon Treadwell could be ready to contribute more to the passing game.
