Favre leads hottest team in great fantasy matchup vs. Broncos

By Corey Bertram  |  Special to NFL.com

Note: Standard fantasy scoring is used -- six points for a rush/rec TD, one point per 10 yards rush/rec.

Titans at Lions

Green Light: LenDale White has struggled lately, but he and Chris Johnson should run all over the Lions' 32nd-ranked run defense. Bo Scaife has three or more receptions in all but two games.

Red Light: Kerry Collins has carried the offense the last two weeks, but look for the Titans to re-establish the running game, limiting the values of Justin Gage and Justin McCareins.

Green Light: Calvin Johnson averages just four receptions per game, but has seven TDs.

Red Light: Daunte Culpepper faces the Titans defense which allows just 190 passing yards per game, and only seven touchdown passes. Although Kevin Smith is the starter, Rudi Johnson will still see carries, but both have minimal value against a solid Titans run defense (103.9 yards per game). Shaun McDonald is not involved enough to be in your lineup.

Seahawks at Cowboys

Green Light: Matt Hasselbeck has struggled since his return, but does have potential sleeper value against the average Cowboys secondary.

Red Light: Maurice Morris had a big game last week, but is inconsistent and will continue to share touches with Julius Jones. Deion Branch, Bobby Engram and John Carlson have potential value only if the Seahawks are behind and forced into catch-up mode.

Green Light: Tony Romo faces the Seahawks defense which allows 259 passing yards per game. Terrell Owens will likely attract more attention after his huge game last week, and Roy Williams has increased value with Jason Witten likely limited. Marion Barber should take advantage of a Seahawks defense that will likely focus on the passing game.

Red Light: Witten (ribs) is set to play, but his injury makes him a risky start.

Cardinals at Eagles

Green Light: Kurt Warner lines up against the Eagles defense which is solid against the pass (189 passing yards per game), but has allowed 15 touchdown passes.

Red Light: Tim Hightower is struggling and plays the good Eagles run defense which has allowed just six rushing touchdowns. Steve Breaston's value can be somewhat inconsistent behind Boldin and Fitzgerald, and there may not be enough balls to go around against the Eagles.

Green Light: With all the talk of losing his job, and in a potential shootout, Donovan McNabb may be extra motivated and bounce back with a huge game, which bodes well for DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis.

Red Light: Brian Westbrook is not fully healthy and faces a solid Cardinals run defense (89 yards per game). Reggie Brown and L.J. Smith do not provide enough consistent production to be in your lineup.

49ers at Bills

Green Light: Frank Gore goes against the Bills defense which has allowed 13 rushing touchdowns this season, and in a potentially cold weather game, could see increased carries.

Red Light: Shaun Hill faces a Bills pass defense that has allowed just 11 TD passes. Isaac Bruce had a huge game last week, but remains inconsistent. Bryant Johnson's value increases, slightly, with Josh Morgan out. Vernon Davis has had just one reception in three straight games.

Green Light: Marshawn Lynch is being utilized more and should see increased carries as it gets colder. The 49ers struggle against the pass (244 yards per game), and with Trent Edwards coming off his best game of the season and playing against another struggling defense, he should find Lee Evans often.

Red Light: Robert Royal (hamstring) is questionable. Josh Reed caught his first touchdown last week.

Ravens at Bengals

Green Light: Derrick Mason (shoulder) is not completely healthy but has a solid matchup against the mediocre Bengals secondary.

Red Light: Willis McGahee, Le'Ron McCLain and Ray Rice have great matchups, but the trio remains unstable because the primary ball carrier seems to change from week to week. Joe Flacco finally found Mark Clayton last week, but along with Todd Heap has marginal fantasy value.

Green Light: None.

Red Light: Carson Palmer (elbow) is out again, giving Ryan Fitzpatrick another start against the Ravens' fourth-ranked pass defense (182 yards per game). Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh did little against the Ravens in Week 1, and that was with Palmer in the lineup. The Ravens allow just 80 rushing yards per game, which will likely make for a long day for Cedric Benson. Ben Utecht continues to have a minimal impact on the offense.

Colts at Browns

Green Light: Joseph Addai has a great matchup against the struggling Browns run defense (146 yards per game). Dallas Clark and Anthony Gonzalez continue to be Peyton Manning's preferred red-zone targets, and will continue to see looks as long as Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison continue to underperform. All Colts receivers have huge upside, but with so many options, all remain inconsistent performers.

Red Light: None.

Green Light: Jamal Lewis faces the Colts run defense which might again be missing its best player (Bob Sanders) and has allowed 15 rushing touchdowns.

Red Light: Brady Quinn (finger) is out for the season, making Derek Anderson the starter once again. The Colts have allowed just four touchdown passes, which limits the scoring potential of Braylon Edwards and Donte Stallworth.

Panthers at Packers

Green Light: DeAngelo Williams has been hot and faces the struggling Packers run defense (147 yards per game).

Red Light: Drew Brees torched the secondary last week, but the Packers are solid against the pass (189 yards per game). Jake Delhomme struggled recently before rebounding somewhat last week at the Georgia Dome. Playing outdoors this week will not help, which limits the upside of Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad. Jonathan Stewart reportedly aggravated his foot injury last week.

Green Light: Aaron Rodgers faces the solid Panthers pass defense (192 yards per game), but has two touchdowns in each of the last two games. Ryan Grant is getting better as the season wears on, and his value increases as it gets colder. Greg Jennings rebounded last week and Donald Driver has a ceiling of 50-70 yards.

Red Light: Donald Lee has had just one reception in two of the past three games.

Dolpins at St. Louis

Green Light: Ronnie Brown has topped 40 yards once in the last three games, and will lose carries to Ricky Williams, but the Rams allow 162 rushing yards per game. Chad Pennington faces the Rams pass defense which has allowed 16 touchdown passes. Ted Ginn has topped 50 yards in three of the past four games.

Red Light: Anthony Fasano continues to split time with David Martin.

Green Light: The Dolphins struggle against the pass (241 yards per game), but Torry Holt and Donnie Avery are risky plays with the uncertainty at quarterback.

Red Light: Steven Jackson's (thigh) status is uncertain and is a risky start if he does play. Marc Bulger (concussion) is also questionable, and if he can't go, veteran Trent Green will fill in.

Saints at Buccaneers

Green Light: Drew Brees plays the Bucs pass defense which allows just 175 yards per game, but there's no sitting him. Lance Moore has four touchdowns in the last three games. Jeremy Shockey has 11 receptions in the last two games.

Red Light: Marques Colston has just four receptions in the last two games. Deuce McAllister has not topped 20 yards in the last three games. Reggie Bush (knee) may play but will likely be limited.

Green Light: Warrick Dunn plays a Saints defense that has allowed just seven rushing touchdowns this season, but has dual-yardage value. Jeff Garcia has sleeper value, as the Bucs may have to keep pace with the Saints offense, increasing the value of Antonio Bryant.

Red Light: Joey Galloway has just one reception in the last three games. Ike Hilliard has inconsistent touchdown value. Alex Smith (ankle) may return this week.

Giants at Redskins

Green Light: Kevin Boss has two TDs in the past three games.

Red Light: On the road against a solid Redskins pass defense (183 yards per game) limits the upside of Eli Manning. Brandon Jacobs (knee) is questionable, and if he doesn't play, Derrick Ward will start against a good Redskins run defense (89 yards per game). Plaxico Burress (hamstring) may not play. Amani Toomer caught a touchdown last week but remains inconsistent.

Green Light: Chris Cooley may be targeted in the short passing game to offset the Giants pass rush.

Red Light: Clinton Portis is battling knee and rib injuries and faces the tough Giants run defense (85 yards per game). Jason Campbell goes against an impressive Giants pass defense (191 yards per game), and the great Giants pass rush will likely limit the big-play potential of Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El.

Broncos at Jets

Green Light: Yards on the ground will likely be tough to come by, meaning Jay Cutler will have to move the ball through the air, increasing the values of Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal and Tony Scheffler.

Red Light: Peyton Hillis remains a fine red-zone option, but may see decreased touches if Selvin Young makes his expected return. Both have an unfavorable matchup against the tough Jets run defense (78 yards per game).

Green Light: Brett Favre faces the Broncos defense which struggles against the pass (236 yards per game) and has allowed 15 touchdown passes, which bodes well for Jerricho Cotchery and Laveranues Coles. Thomas Jones has five touchdowns in his last three games, and the Broncos have allowed 15 rushing touchdowns. Dustin Keller has 20 receptions in the last three games.

Red Light: None.

Falcons at Chargers

Green Light: Matt Ryan has a great matchup against the Chargers' 32nd-ranked pass defense, which has also allowed the second most touchdown passes (19), increasing the scoring potential of Roddy White and Michael Jenkins. Michael Turner will likely be extra motivated against his former teammates.

Red Light: None.

Green Light: Philip Rivers has a solid matchup at home, against a Falcons pass defense that allows 231 passing yards per game. LaDainian Tomlinson may also have extra motivation, going against his former backup (Turner). Antonio Gates has just five receptions in the last two games.

Red Light: Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson have ceilings of 60 yards and the occasional touchdown, as there are only so many balls to go around.

Steelers at Patriots

Green Light: Mewelde Moore is a dual-yardage threat, with increased value if Parker is out. Ben Roethlisberger faces the Patriots defense which has allowed 19 touchdown passes, which increases the values of Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward, though weather could play a factor. Heath Miller is the best red-zone option.

Red Light: Willie Parker (knee) is questionable, as he continues to battle knee inflammation.

Green Light: Randy Moss and Wes Welker may find little room to operate, so lower your expectations against a tough Steelers pass defense.

Red Light: Matt Cassel is insane hot, but will likely struggle against the Steelers defense that ranks No. 1 against the pass. Neither Sammy Morris, Benjarvus Green-Ellis or Kevin Faulk has had double-digit carries in the last two games. Ben Watson remains too inconsistent to start.

Chiefs at Raiders

Green Light: Larry Johnson was solid last week, and with the passing game keeping defenses honest, has a great matchup against the struggling Raiders run defense (160 yards per game). Dwayne Bowe and Tony Gonzalez have benefitted from the improved play of Tyler Thigpen, but the Raiders pass defense held Denver's Jay Cutler in check last week.

Red Light: Thigpen has been hot, but the Chiefs likely will look to run first.

Green Light: Justin Fargas has the yardage-machine role, while Darren McFadden is the goal-line back, but both have great matchups against the Chiefs' 31st-ranked run defense. Zach Miller continues to be the only starter-worthy option in the receiving game.

Red Light: JaMarcus Russell has minimal value with limited options in the passing game. Ashley Lelie led the team in receiving last week, but has just 11 receptions.

Bears at Vikings

Green Light: Kyle Orton had a huge game against the Vikings in Week 7, and is set up for another big game. Greg Olsen has increased value, as Desmond Clark is likely out with a knee injury. Devin Hester has added value, running the "Wildcat" formation.

Red Light: Matt Forte had 56 yards and a TD in Week 7 against the Vikings, but don't expect much more this week.

Green Light: Adrian Peterson faces the bi-polar Bears run defense which was run over two weeks ago, but shut down the Rams last week. Gus Frerotte faces the struggling Bears pass defense (244 yards per game). Bernard Berrian goes against his former team. Visanthe Shiancoe has topped 40 yards in the last two games.

Red Light: Sidney Rice and Bobby Wade both have just six receptions in the last three games.

Jaguars at Texans

Green Light: Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew struggled in Week 4 against the Texans, but look for much better numbers as the Texans have allowed 15 rushing touchdowns. David Garrard faces the Texans defense which has allowed 17 touchdown passes. Marcedes Lewis has four receptions in two of the last three games.

Red Light: Matt Jones, Jerry Porter and Reggie Williams don't provide enough consistency to be in lineups.

Green Light: Steve Slaton's TD value increases with Ahman Green on IR. Andre Johnson had just 38 yards against the Jaguars in Week 4, but should have much more this time around. Kevin Walter has outscored Johnson over the past three games with Sage Rosenfels under center.

Red Light: Owen Daniels' value has decreased with the emergence of Walter, and has just five receptions in the last three games.
