Week 16 fantasy football notebook

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals

» At this point, the Cardinals offense might not be able to drive 80 yards in a school bus. Apart from one big play to Michael Floyd, Arizona has generated absolutely nothing tonight.

» In this week's edition of Seahawks Tight End roulette, the winner is ... Luke Willson! Stay tuned, Cooper Helfet already has a couple of catches and could still find his way into the end zone as well.

» In a terrifying twist for fantasy owners, Marshawn Lynch sat out much of the early goings with an upset stomach. He did return later to score a touchdown, however. Robert Turbin took most of the carries in his stead, with Christine Michael getting into the mix as well. Russell Wilson has been running all over the place, making things happen as usual.

» Give credit to Bruce Arains, as even with Ryan Lindley under center he isn't afraid to throw it deep. Michael Floyd drew a DPI call on one such bomb, and then dropped another that would have set the Cardinals up big. And that's about it for the Cardinals offense so far.

Indianapolis Colts at Dallas Cowboys

» A sampling of the quarterbacks who scored more fantasy points than Andrew Luck: Johnny Manziel, Brandon Weeden, Matt Hasselbeck, Case Keenum, Brian Hoyer and Geno Smith.

» Here's the story of the Colts day on offense: Andrew Luck has been pulled for Matt Hassleback because the game is such a blowout. Oh, and with T.Y. Hilton out, it was Hakeen Nicks who led the way with nine catches for 72 yards. Carry on.

» Tony Romo came out firing with four touchdown passes and a new career record for consecutive completions (15). He hit Jason Witten, Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley and Terrance Williams for scores, pulling a true Oprah on the Colts defense.

» DeMarco Murray had 22 rushes and scored on a goal-line plunge. That's a crazy workload for a guy who had surgery on his hand on Monday considering this game was a blowout in the first quarter.

New York Giants at St. Louis Rams

» Odell Beckham is an absolute stud, as he has caught his 10th and 11th touchdowns of the year, the latter of which was an impressive 80-yard score. OROY anyone?

» Orleans Darkwa ruined the fantasy day for Andre Williams owners by galloping in for a 12-yard touchdown run. Williams did finish with 110 rushing yards though, thanks in part to an incredible truck stick move against Rams safety Rodney McLeod on a long run.

» Tre Mason had 76 rushing yards on 13 carries, including a nice 10-yard scoring dash on a quick pitch. He could have had a bigger game had the Rams not fallen behind so early. Oh, and if you had Lance Kendricks  or Chris Givens in your touchdown bingo pool (that's a thing, right?) you've won as each caught one from Shaun Hill.

» Rueben Randle had himself a day. He finished with six catches for 132 yards and a touchdown now.

Buffalo Bills at Oakland Raiders

» Sammy Watkins got off to a good start today with a nice 42-yard touchdown reception, but he finished with three catches for 75 yards as the Bills offense was swallowed up in the Black Hole. Fred Jackson led the way on the ground with 10 rushing yards. 10!

» James Jones hauled in a short pass from Derek Carr for the Raiders' first touchdown on the day. The rest of the scoring has been by the leg of Sebastian Janikowski, until Jamize Olawale took in another short Carr pass to give the Raiders the go-ahead score.

» Latavius Murray found some holes to run through with Marcel Dareus sidelined with a leg injury. After a slow start, he finished with 86 yards on 23 carries thanks to a few big runs, although his yards per carry average was hurt by a bunch of clock-eating runs late in the game into a loaded box.

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints

» Week 16 started off with a bang in New Orleans, as the Saints returned the opening kickoff to the 1-yard line, where Mark Ingram took the ball in for the day's first touchdown.

» Julio Jones looked good catching seven passes for 107 yards. Roddy White had six catches for 55 yards. Steven Jackson left the game after suffering a quad injury, but only had four carries for nine yards. Matt Ryan's lone touchdown toss went to Eric Weems of all people.

» Jimmy Graham finished with six catches for 53 yards, but a questionable fumble at the goal line was all that anyone was going to remember ... until he scored a short touchdown late from Drew Brees. All across the coutnry fantasy prayers were answered. Drew Brees looked off all day, and was constantly under pressure from the Atlanta pass rush.

» Devonta Freeman tried to make the most of his opportunity with Steven Jackson out. He took one of his three handoffs 31 yards for a touchdown, but finished with just 36 yards on the day.

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears

» Jimmy Clausen has played a fairly good ballgame but he's been hurt by drops from his receivers. We're not all sure what that means for the future of the Bears offense.

» In the second half, we've seen a heavy dose of Joique Bell to great effect. He's accounted for 87 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in the ballgame. Not bad for a guy who missed much of the first two quarters.

» It's encouraging to see Reggie Bush have a productive start to the game, but it's disconcerting to see that Joique Bell has yet to get a touch for the Detroit offense. This would be a bad time for the Lions to start changing things up.

New England Patriots at New York Jets

» In a game where most expected the Patriots to dominate, they did anything but. Rob Gronkowski was the first player to find the end zone and finished with 31 receiving yards. Danny Amendola and Brandon LaFell filled in well for the injured Julian Edelman with a combined 15 catches and 127 yards. Jonas Gray scored the Patriots other touchdown on a short run.

» Jeff Cumberland will be an early "That Helps No One" favorite with his touchdown toss from Geno Smith. On the ground, Chris Ivory led the way with 53 yards while Percy Harvin had four catches for 44 yards through the air, second to Jeremy Kerley's 54 yards.

Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans

» In a case of #KickersArePeopleToo, Randy Bullock has six field goals and an extra point today. Wow.

» Joe Flacco and the entire Ravens offense has been flat out #ungood today. That is all.

» After three field goals, we finally have a touchdown. It's Arian Foster to C.J. Fiedorowicz. I know none of that makes sense to read, but it's true. I fully expect Foster to toss one to J.J. Watt in the second half.

Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

» Aaron Rodgers fumbled the football on an early sack, butfinished the day with over 300 passing yards and a touchdown. Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb both went over 100 receiving yards on the day, and Nelson has scored his 13th touchdown on the season on a short pass from Rodgers.

» Eddie Lacy had himself a game before leaving late in the game with cramps. He had 99 rushing yards on 17 carries, thanks in large part to a 44-yard touchdown scamper to give the Packers an early lead.

» The entire Bucs offense was stymied by the Packers defense, which recorded six sacks and an interception on the day. The Bucs failed to get a first down in the first quarter while Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans had 109 receiving yards on the day ... combined.

Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers

» Albert Wilson the Chiefs rookie out of Georgia State, was leading receiver in the game with five catches for 87 yards.

» Le'Veon Bell had 63 rushing yards and a 1-yard touchdown to his name, while Jamaal Charles has barely made an impact in the stat sheets.

» Antonio Brown found the end zone, but Ben Roethlisberger went into the locker room afterwards as he was injured on the play. Brown finished with 72 receiving yards on seven catches.

Minnesota Vikings at Miami Dolphins

» Raise your hand if you predicted Ryan Tannehill throwing four touchdown passes today against the Vikings. Put your hand down.

» Two touchdown catches for Mike Wallace today? Where has this been all season long?

» It's been a nice day for Lamar Miller. He's over 20 fantasy points after his short touchdown run and looks to be the Dolphins runner to target heading into 2015 drafts.

- Marcas Grant

Cleveland Browns at Carolina Panthers

» After Johnny Manziel exited with a hamstring injury, Brian Hoyer came in an threw an 81-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Cameron. These are things we all could have used about six weeks ago.

» Superman is back! Cam Newton takes bootleg in for a short rushing touchdown. We're happy to see it.
