Fantasy football roster resets: NFC North

We are well into the free agent season and most of the big names have come off the board. That means teams are starting to round into shape. While we still have the NFL Draft in May, enough has happened that we can start to figure out what the league's offenses will look like in 2014. That's why we're going through to examine all 32 rosters to check on their respective fantasy values. For a more complete look, check out Around the League's Roster Reset.

Key re-signings:Jordan Palmer, Dante Rosario
Key arrivals:Domenik Hixon, Matthew Mulligan
Key departures:Devin Hester, Josh McCown

Fantasy depth chart

The Bears turned things up a notch last season under head coach Marc Trestman, which meant very good things statistically for Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. It also made a surprise fantasy star out of Josh McCown, who filled in well for an injured Jay Cutler. This season should be more of the same with Forte potentially challenging for the top spot among fantasy running backs. Adding Domenik Hixon to the mix at WR could take targets from Marshall and Jeffery, but not enough to seriously downgrade either of those two wideouts.

Detroit Lions

Key re-signings:Brandon Pettigrew, Jeremy Ross
Key arrivals:Dan Orlovsky, Golden Tate
Key departures:Nate Burleson, Shaun Hill

Fantasy depth chart

The Lions haven't been shy about throwing the football in recent seasons. Over the past three years, no one has as many pass attempts as Matthew Stafford. Now that Joe Lombardi has taken over as the offensive coordinator, that's not likely to change. What could change is the distribution of labor in the backfield. Joique Bell could take some touches away from Reggie Bush. The addition of Golden Tate should do more to free up Calvin Johnson -- and it's likely the Lions could pursue another receiver in the draft to offer more help in that area.

Key re-signings:Matt Flynn, Andrew Quarless, James Starks
Key arrivals:Michael Hill
Key departures:James Jones

Fantasy depth chart

The biggest thing for the Packers this season could be keeping key players healthy. Aaron Rodgers missed a significant portion of the season with a broken collarbone while Randall Cobb played just six games because of a broken fibula. Green Bay's offense is still one of the NFL's most prolific -- a fact that should only be helped by the emergence of running back Eddie Lacy. The Packers will have to replace James Jones in the passing game, but Jarrett Boykin appears ready to fill that role.

Minnesota Vikings

Key re-signings:Matt Asiata, Matt Cassel, Jerome Simpson
Key arrivals:Lestar Jean
Key departures:John Carlson, Toby Gerhart

Fantasy depth chart

This offseason, the Vikings had one big loss in running back Toby Gerhart and one big gain in offensive coordinator Norv Turner. Fantasy owners can hope that it's a net gain for Adrian Peterson, who is likely to catch more passes in the new offense. The same goes for Cordarrelle Patterson, who is reportedly already an interesting new piece for Turner. A big question still remains at quarterback. Neither Christian Ponder nor Matt Cassel are the answer for Minnesota. The team could look to select a signal-caller in the draft.
