New to NFL.com Fantasy Football is the Waiver Acquisition Budget (WAB). This is a way to claim players off the waiver wire by using an allotted seasonal budget. This budget is the amount of points that you have at your disposal to claim players. You are in fact bidding against other players to determine who will be awarded a coveted player.
The process to claim a player goes as follows:
If your waiver claim is successful, the amount of points that you bid on that player will be removed from your seasonal budget.
If your waiver claim is unsuccessful, you will not lose any points. The amount of points that you bid on the player will be returned to your seasonal budget.
If you and another owner bid for the same player for the same number of WAB points, Waiver Priority will be used to break the tie. This Waiver Priority is determined by the Inverse Order of the Standings. Note that for any acquisitions made in Preseason, the Waiver Priority is determined by the Inverse Order of the Draft.
If you have used all of your available WAB points, you are still able to make claims on players. You can bid 0 points and if no one outbids you, you will be awarded the player.
Regarding the order in which players are distributed via WAB, the highest bid player within a league goes up for bid first. This is followed by the second, third and so on. In the event that two different players have the same amount bid on them by owners in the league, the player with the highest number of fantasy points earned this season goes up for bid first.
Note: a user establishes priority of their team's specific WAB claims by setting higher bids. Once your team's WAB points budget has run out, your claims and the priority with which they are allocated are at the mercy of the bids placed by other teams.
