Stadium: Located in the southwest section of Frankfurt, Commerzbank-Arena was dedicated on May 21, 1925. The venue formerly known as the Waldstadion has built a glorious history, including hosting a Muhammad Ali title fight. Today, it is the site for home games of Eintracht Frankfurt, the city’s soccer team, and, of course, the Frankfurt Galaxy. On June 14 1998, the World Bowl was played in the Waldstadion for the first time. Frankfurt became the first city to host World Bowl for a second time when World Bowl 2000 was played at the Waldstadion on June, 25. The famous stadium has been renovated to seat 50,000 fans and hosted four soccer World Cup group games in 2006, as well as a quarter final.

City/Region: Frankfurt is the financial capital of Germany, serving as the headquarters of the German Federal Central Bank, the State Central Bank of Hessen and 411 other credit institutions. It has also been chosen as the site for the European Central Bank. The city is more than 1,200 years old and is home to more than 650,000 people. It is believed that the city was established as a settlement by the Romans in the 1st century A.D. Its location on the Main River at the heart of the European continent made it the crossroads of prehistoric trade routes linking northern Europe with the Mediterranean areas, and Eastern and Western Europe. The Museum Embankment, made up of eight museums, is a central part of the city’s culture. Another point of interest is the Römer which was used as town hall for nearly 600 years.

Amateur Football: The Frankfurt Lions, founded in 1977, were the very first football team in Germany. In 1982, the Hessian Football Federation was officially founded. Rüsselsheim from the Rhein-Main-region competes in the ‘Bundesliga’, the highest division in amateur football. In 2003, the Galaxy and the German federation organised the World Cup Championship in the Rhein Main area.
