ASHBURN, Va. -- Robert Griffin III, the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL draft, spent about 90 minutes Friday afternoon at Redskins Park meeting with team officials, coaches and owner Dan Snyder.

The quarterback and his family flew from New York to suburban Washington in Snyder's plane and were ushered to the team facility by a fleet of town cars and SUVs. The brief meeting is one of a handful of gatherings he'll take part in with the team, the last culminating with his introduction to the public at a fanfest Saturday at FedEx Field.

From that point, Griffin will go home for a few days, then return late next week for a rookie minicamp, in which 25 to 30 players will participate, according to coach Mike Shanahan.

"We've had a chance to spend a little time with him over the last month or so and obviously liked what we saw on film," Shanahan said Friday on NFL Network. "Just a class young man with a lot of athletic ability and a big upside. We're excited to have him."

There have been no contract talks between the Redskins and RG3.
