Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III is not yet a member of the Washington Redskins, but the signal-caller is already fawning over coach Mike Shanahan as though he had just been drafted.

Griffin said getting a chance to play for Shanahan, whom the quarterback idolized when he guided the Denver Broncos to two Super Bowl titles, was a "dream come true."

“I mean, you have to give respect where respect is due,” Griffin told The SiriusXM Blitz, according to The Washington Post. “So before I even talk about football with them, I just try to express to them that I was a Broncos fan growing up, so coach Shanahan coached those teams that I watched and that influenced me to play football."

The Redskins have limited their discussions with Griffin in accordance with league rules, avoiding specifics of the team's offense. But Griffin said "they didn’t trade up to the second pick for no reason.”

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said Monday his team has not decided whether to take Griffin or Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. But Griffin will not work out for the Colts, general manager Ryan Grigson said.

Griffin said he would not be offended if the Colts select Luck.

“You know, I don’t mind playing in Indy, I don’t mind playing in Washington -- it’s just a matter of what’s the best fit and who really wants you," Griffin said. "And we’ll know on draft day, or maybe even before that ... In my opinion, for myself, I feel like I can do both systems. But it’s all about having fun, and it’s all about winning.”
