Some draft attendees to pay their own airfare, hotel costs

The lockout seemingly has cast a shadow over all relations between the NFL and prospects, as well as their agents, with roughly 10 of the record 25 players confirmed to attend this week's draft at New York's Radio City Music Hall choosing not to accept the airfare and hotel accommodations provided by the league, numerous sources with knowledge of the situation said Monday.

Those same players are highly unlikely to attend any league-sanctioned events beyond the draft itself. Many plan to bypass the media and community-outreach events the NFL will conduct during draft week, according to sources.

Several agents advised their clients against accepting anything from the league during this lockout, with a charged climate involving all matters at this time and heightened sensitivity across the board.
