Overview

Before the 2016 season, a video was released that showed Zamora beating his dog with a belt. A former Baylor student took the video to the Baylor Police Department, and Waco police charged him with misdemeanor animal abuse. He was suspended for three games by the team, cited by police with a fine, completed 40 hours of community service and lost his dog to an animal-friendly home. Zamora is an incredible athlete that excelled late in his high school career on the gridiron and on the track, winning a state championship in the 110-meter hurdles as a junior. He redshirted with the Bears in 2014 and played on occasion during his freshman year (9-132, two TDs receiving; 5-142 on kick returns). Zamora finished second on the team with 63 receptions for 809 yards and eight touchdowns in 2016. He then decided to head to the NFL with Baylor's top receiver, junior KD Cannon.

Analysis

Strengths

Impressive overall size and frame. Massive target who might be able to mismatch smaller cornerbacks in the NFL. Size/speed prospect with build-up acceleration to climb over cornerbacks. Possesses untapped potential. Limiting Baylor offense didn't ask as much from him as he has to offer. Plus athletic ability for a receiver his size. Former high school track star with desired hip flexibility and leaping ability. Flashes separation juice out of his route stems. Ball tracking is adequate. Plays to his size after the catch and can be a punishing runner while banging through tackle attempts for additional yardage.

Weaknesses

Much too reliant upon size and athleticism over route acumen. Limited route work. Baylor offense prevented him from getting much experience on intermediate level. Hands lie to him. Will drop some easy ones. Catch attempts lack focus when forced to extend outside his frame. Inconsistent pass catcher in traffic and will drift on in-breaking routes. Needs to learn how to best utilize his frame to shield defenders from catch attempts. Effort and desire as a run blocker can be very disappointing. Was not invited to the Combine due to character concerns. Suspended for three games by Baylor, charged with misdemeanor and given 40 hours of community service after video surfaced of him stomping on and whipping his dog with a belt.

Bottom Line

Classic triangle numbers (height, weight, speed) prospect with the combination of physical and athletic traits demand immediate attention from evaluators. Zamora is raw (relative to what NFL will ask from him) coming out of Baylor's offense and his lack of desired game experience could add to his learning curve. Zamora's hands and effort as a blocker must both improve or he will be just another tall, big, fast receiver who didn't make it.
