Draft Analysis:

  • 5'9" Height
  • 184LBS. Weight

Gritty competitor. Plays with more swagger than his listed size and is more than willing to come take on big running backs in run support. Chops runners with aggressive tackles around the thighs. Tracks ball well downfield and plays with well-timed leaps to maximize height. Deflected 25 passes over the last two seasons. Has decent reactive quickness when he's not over-responsive and allowed to play downhill rather than from a pedal.

Well below NFL size standards for defensive backs. Was torched by Brandon Allen and Arkansas this season. Can be slow to anticipate pattern development with combo routes. Will overreact to head fakes and double moves in coverage. Lacks desired recovery speed to climb back into the play quickly once he's beaten. Below average mirror and match ability and will lose feel out of breaks giving up too much separation.

Draft Projection

Undrafted free agent

Bottom Line

Hilton showed steady improvement over the last three years and offered the Rebels terrific flexibility by playing all four secondary spots during his college career. Hilton's coverage talent and ball skills are just okay, but he's a tenacious tackler who punches above his weight class. His lack of size and speed could make sticking on an NFL roster a challenge since he will be forced into a slot position only.
