Pro Day Results

40-yard dash: 4.38 seconds
Vertical: 33 1/2 inches
Broad jump: 9 feet, 9 inches
Short shuttle: 4.06 seconds
3-cone: 6.92 seconds
Bench: 25 reps of 225 pounds

Possesses fluid hips and elite bounce and foot quickness. His jump cut is legit. Agile with ability to make defenders miss early in the run. Has instant cut and burst ability when he sees it open. Turbo smasher when he decides to bounce it around the perimeter. Runs like he means it. Not a wide-base runner, but manages to maintain above average balance. Has vision on second and third levels to keep the big runs going. Effective stiff arm allows him to push to freedom. Ball security is no problem with just two fumbles over 394 carries.

Slightly below desired NFL size. Has to learn when to shut a play down rather than extending and losing yardage. Lacks power to explode through first level contact and fall forward for maximum yardage. Average run finisher between tackles. Gets bounce happy with his runs. Has bad hands out of backfield. Had four drops to just 18 catches at New Mexico. Inability to catch the ball limits his third-down value.

Bottom Line

It's rare to average 7.8 yards per carry over a three-year span and have such little fanfare headed toward the draft, but that is the case with Pressley. While he tends to bounce runs wide too often, he has the footwork, agility and explosiveness to get away with it. Pressley is a change-of-pace runner with almost no third-down value but the juice to make NFL teams take notice.
