Mindful of getting hands on opponent quickly and with good arm extension. Gritty and plays to the whistle every snap. Very active hands and works to keep himself clean as he mirrors run play down the line. Frenetic pass rusher who gives guards a moving target to try and track. Senses screen passes and reacts. Football and personal character are sky-high, according to regional scouts.

Despite head movement and busy hands, he doesn't gain much ground as a pass rusher. Isn't a true two-gap defensive tackle, but doesn't threaten the edge enough as a penetrating player either. Lacks power and and can be uprooted from his position. Pursues too aggressively at times against the run and vacates his gap.

Bottom Line

Mbu will outwork many of the defensive tackles in this draft, but the question is whether his effort level can make up for his inability to dominate against the run or as a pass rusher. Mbu's football character and size give him a shot to make an NFL team.
