Power-lifter playing inside linebacker. Thick through his chest, waist and trunk. Has enough upper-body strength to torque blockers off of him. Adequate functional quickness. Plays with outstanding balance at contact and plays the game on his feet. Packs vicious wallop on ball carriers when he gets body moving. Has strong hands that rip the ball from the clutches of offensive players in forcing fumbles. Recovered four fumbles and finished with 6.5 sacks in 2014. Nightmare for interior linemen and running backs as A-gap blitzer.

Stiffness in lower body robs him of bend and leverage. Doesn't explode into ball carriers from standstill because he plays too upright. Must improve feel for angle blocks and striking first to keep long offensive linemen off of him. Instincts and ability to diagnose are marginal. Can be exploited in man-to-man coverage. Relies on pure upper-body power over foot quickness too often. Takes inconsistent angles to the ball.

Bottom Line

Tightly wound, old-school inside linebacker who plays the game with power over speed. While he has the functional quickness needed for the position, his straight-line stiffness and inability to diagnose and flow quickly limit his potential as an NFL middle linebacker. Luc has a solid shot of making a roster if he can prove himself on special teams, but his body type and athletic traits scream for a shot at fullback.
