Draft Analysis:

  • 6'3" Height
  • 250LBS. Weight

Well-built upper body and shows good strength in his lower half. Was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection in 2013 at linebacker for Illinois before transferring. Plays with his hand down and also plays standing up. Comes off the snap with good forward lean and decent burst. Good awareness while dropping into zone coverage and makes adjustments to receivers in his area. Destroyed his former Illini teammates with 4.5 sacks for Louisiana Tech in 35-18 win in the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl and finished the 2014 season with 10 sacks.

Below-average athleticism and agility. Tight through his hips. Labors to change direction and accelerate in space. Plays upright when standing as outside linebacker. Lacks the length to secure and control the edge against quality competition. Lives on inside moves and loses containment, allowing plays to flow outside.

Draft Projection

Bottom Line

Outside linebacker prospect missing the athleticism to truly be a factor at the position in the NFL. While he has an adequate burst off the snap with his hand in the ground, he doesn't string together enough pass-rush moves to be a consistent pass rusher.
