Draft Analysis:

  • 6'1" Height
  • 220LBS. Weight

Savvy receiver who understands his position. Tough player with sturdy build and a willingness to work the middle of the field. Has hand strength and body control to secure catches despite coverage or impending hits. Had only one drop while catching 25 of his 31 targets in 2014. Physical runner after the catch with a winning stiff-arm to discard would-be angle tackles. Has feel for space and works to get open. Comes back to the throw. Aggressive blocker who doesn't mind taking on a challenge.

Has only one year of true, in-game experience. Has just 30 catches over three years of competition. Missed all of 2013 after tearing his MCL and ACL in a practice. Doesn't have juice to get over top of press cornerbacks and is unable to create openings at top of his routes with "getaway" quickness. Many catches came on quick slants, hitches and easy dig routes against off coverage. Top heavy into his breaks and is slow to sink hips and open up.

Draft Projection

Priority free agent

Bottom Line

Solid but unspectacular possession receiver who is missing the speed and twitch to work from the outside and will probably have to prove himself as a slot receiver. Farmer is more than tough enough and has the hands and body control to make tough catches over the middle, but he lacks the athletic traits and production on tape to make it easy for a team to say "yes" on draft day.
