Draft Analysis:

  • 6'5" Height
  • 258LBS. Weight

Played basketball growing up and has a feel for climbing the ladder with desired body control, securing tough catches. Hands catcher willing to work back to his quarterback when necessary. Finds open spaces against zone coverage. Has adequate speed to work the seam. When healthy, has the ability to make difficult catches look easy.

Injuries have limited effectiveness over the last two seasons and could be a concern. Will have an occasional focus drop. Wasted motion getting into his breaks. Lacking functional play strength to consistently handle himself as inline blocker.

Draft Projection

Priority free agent

Bottom Line

Rangy tight end who looks the part of a big receiver when playing from the slot. Holmes has fairly natural hands and can make tough catches, but a wrist injury has limited his production and he doesn't block as effectively as teams would like from a combination tight end. Holmes shows some separation talent and has enough play speed to play in the league, but he might have to prove it as a priority free agent rather than as a draft pick.
