Analysis

Strengths

Versatile. Played deep, from slot and in box. Very aggressive with desire to hit in open field. Has ability to play deep in a shell. Willing run supporter who recognizes and comes charging in. Plays high to low quickly and looks for work. Solid tackler who generally plays run with proper leverage. Takes good angles to the ball. Will come across the field to make a play and is consistent in pursuit.

Weaknesses

Lanky on the hoof. Play speed lacking. Limited recovery speed and missing a second gear. Poor technique in coverage. Plays upright and plays with hands in coverage rather than using his feet. Issues with mirror and match in man coverage. Has poor feel throughout route and will lose track of receiver. Overmatched against quality slot receivers. Below-average awareness and ball skills. Stayed glued to blocks against Maryland when defending bubble screens.

Draft Projection

Round 7 or priority free agent

Bottom Line

An athletically limited safety with the demeanor to play near the line of scrimmage but currently lacks the bulk to do so consistently as a tackler. Technique needs a ton of work in coverage and could limit his ability to make a roster until he improves in that area.
