Draft Analysis:

  • 6'3" Height
  • 325LBS. Weight

Thick legs with big bubble. Able to drop anchor and stop bull-rushers. Patient with hands, using well-timed punch. Can shoot and lock-out his opponent. Doesn't play with great flexibility, but will bring hips up under him at contact to maximize his impact power. Has some juice on down-blocks. Wins early in snap and playing with wider base will help him finish blocks. Shows foot quickness for lateral blocking game, with ability to redirect against an inside charge in pass pro. Flashes NFL power in his hands and potential to maul. Showed impressive double-dual ability against Nebraska on one fourth-quarter snap. Excitable competitor who has a passion for the game.

Allows his base to narrow at times in run game. Makes good initial contact, but doesn't secure his blocks with footwork and a wide base and defenders able to leak back inside on the play. Has balance issues at times when he gets too upright. Needs to sustain blocks longer and maintain his hand placement on down blocks. Body control and bend need to improve on climb to second level. Needs to improve consistency of timing and angle of second-level blocks.

Bottom Line

Everett displays foot quickness and solid technique in most areas and has the frame and toughness to bump inside to guard and become a capable backup and, potentially, a starter down the road. His football intelligence will be welcomed by offensive line coaches, but those same coaches will have to work on enabling Everett to sustain his blocks through a wider base and better body control.
