Analysis

Strengths

Tall outside receiver with plus catch radius. Able to get cornerbacks leaning before breaking routes inside on deep posts. Hits the gas and separates at top of his routes - especially on vertical throws. Has buildup deep speed and doesn't get caught when he’s in open field. Nine of his ten catches went for first downs in 2014. Four of his ten catches were touchdowns including a 93- and 80-yarder. Showed potential to open a throwing window while working underneath as well as an ability to make the contested catch.

Weaknesses

Just 17 catches over the last two years and only 10 this season. Very raw with routes underneath and primarily a vertical threat in Rutgers offense. Tends to gear down prematurely with underneath routes. Doesn’t seem to have consistent recognition of when he’s hot receiver vs. blitz. Sits and waits for throw in zone rather than working back to it. Must improve ball tracking.

Draft Projection

Priority free agent

Bottom Line

Fifth-year senior who transferred to Rutgers for his final season after three miserable (and unproductive) seasons at Kansas. Lacks the production or pedigree of an NFL player, but has the length and deep speed that warrants a kick of the tires in a camp somewhere.
