Analysis

Strengths

Grinder. Duck-footed power guard. Significant girth on frame, but carries weight well. Comes off snap low and with lean, pushing with every pound he has. Generates movement and opens holes. Willing to play hurt. Sees twists. Snaps one block off and picks up the next one coming. Uses his length. Adequate job of mirroring move rushers. On short pulls, brings attitude and looks for work.

Weaknesses

Relies on body mass and forward lean too often as run blocker. When defenders shift, he topples forward to the ground. On the ground way too much. Climbing to second level bears little fruit due to stiffness. Too focused on threat of A-gap blitz and can be fooled. Concerns in scouting community that injury history has robbed him of functional mobility.

Draft Projection

Priority free agent

Bottom Line

Tough guy who has power traits to get a look if he can pass physicals. Limited movement skills and leaning tendencies as a run blocker could be exposed by NFL interior linemen. Has frame and power-blocking pedigree to challenge for backup role.
