Analysis

Strengths

Good instincts to locate the ball quickly. Outstanding effort and back-side chase pursuit. Anticipates the snap very well and can flatten down the line and secure ball carriers from behind. Motor is always revving. Strong tackler. Flashes pass-rush ability. Solid base strength to hold the point -- plays bigger than his size. Good football intelligence. Respected, vocal leader who carries himself well. Tough and battled through a foot injury all season (after missing first two games).

Weaknesses

Lacks ideal bulk to defend the run. Average bend to trim the corner. Very tight-hipped, as confirmed in 4.58-second 20-yard shuttle at his pro day. Is not a creative pass rusher. Displays no counter moves. Lacks ideal acceleration and burst to beat NFL blockers.

Draft Projection

Rounds 6-7

Bottom Line

A high-motor disruptor who plays faster than his timed speed and has the toughness, football smarts and leadership traits to earn a job in the pros. Could be best as a 3-4 outside linebacker for an aggressive, zone-blitzing team such as the Ravens or Steelers.
