Analysis

Strengths

Good enough anchor strength to stop a charge in pass protection. Efficient cut blocker. Good hand use to control and lock out. Plays angles, walls off and sustains in tight quarters. Makes few mental errors and is very dependable. Experienced, three-year starter. Very tough and durable. Blue-collar worker. Very good football and personal character.

Weaknesses

Squatty build with short arms and average recovery speed. Tends to play too narrow-based. Will be challenged to handle NFL edge speed (though he is capable of handling the left side in the Mountain West Conference with a quick-triggering QB where he is not asked to hold blocks long). Is late to reach the second level and struggles to initiate contact with linebackers on the second level.

Draft Projection

Round 7-Priority free agent

Bottom Line

Efficient college left tackle lacking ideal length and foot quickness to handle edge speed. Is most ideally suited for the inside where he could benefit from working in a phone booth with help on each side of him.
