2013 NFL Mock Draft
NFL Mock Draft 3.0: Bills select QB Geno Smith
-
Given the Alex Smith trade, the restructuring of Tyson Jackson's contract and the free-agent signings of Chase Daniel and Mike DeVito, the Chiefs likely will target a left tackle or cornerback with this pick.
-
There are three possible "Leo" selections here, but I'll take Mingo, since I think he will be the apple of Gus Bradley's eye.
-
With the losses of Richard Seymour and Desmond Bryant, as well as the likely release of Tommy Kelly, GM Reggie McKenzie needs someone to start on the D-line. Many consider Floyd a top-five prospect.
-
After releasing Nnamdi Asomugha, the Eagles signed Bradley Fletcher, who is solid when healthy. Still, the team needs another outside cover man. (Brandon Boykin is solid, but in a slot corner role.)
-
Willie Young is a situational player, and Ronnell Lewis might have a similar role. Ansah is inexperienced, but he is already a dependable run defender and can generate immediate pressure from a wide technique.
-
The Browns certainly filled a variety of needs in their front seven via free agency, but they still could use an additional pass rusher. I also won't be shocked if they opt for a cornerback or look to trade down.
-
Drew Stanton is visiting Arizona on Wednesday, and I think Bruce Arians could be content with him, Ryan Lindley and potentially Kevin Kolb (if he's not cut). Thus, some pass protection is an obvious fit. (UPDATE: The Cardinals announced Wednesday that they signed Stanton to a three-year deal.)
-
Doug Marrone faced Smith at the college level, and although he has an obvious Syracuse connection with Ryan Nassib, I think he can recognize the West Virginia product's superior talent.
-
Yes, I'm projecting Darrelle Revis will indeed be traded. The Jets could target a pass rusher or nose tackle at this spot, but I think Rhodes will go earlier than expected.
-
Guard was a popular projection here prior to the Andy Levitre acquisition, but unless the Titans draft Jonathan Cooper to play center, I believe safety is a position they fill early in April's draft.
-
Antonio Garay is gone, and Lotulelei is an excellent talent to anchor the defensive line.
-
Dolphins fans seem satisfied with Jonathan Martin as a full-time replacement for Jake Long at left tackle. I am not. With a new vertical target on the perimeter (Mike Wallace), Ryan Tannehill will need more time in the pocket than he received in 2012.
-
Michael Bennett is not gone just yet, but Tampa Bay does appear to be the current favorite for Darrelle Revis, which would eat up significant cash. Werner would join a rotation that includes Adrian Clayborn and Da'Quan Bowers.
-
I expect the Panthers to run a more versatile front in 2013, and Richardson fits a variety of alignments along the defensive line.
-
Jones' ability to win on the edge as a pass rusher is undeniable; a solid motor only helps him attack from the back side.
-
If Danny Amendola takes his talents elsewhere, Austin would be an outstanding addition to the Rams' offense. Offensive line is still a need, though.
-
A surprise, yes, but unless the Steelers opt to address a need at linebacker, they can roll the dice on an explosive playmaker.
-
Buzz is building that Cooper is being considered as a guard and a center. He would improve either spot for the Cowboys.
-
A perfect fit. We will find out more about Tank's medical status in the coming weeks, but if healthy, he is right among this class' top pass rushers.
-
The Bears just spent a lot of money on free-agent left tackle Jermon Bushrod, but Warmack would solidify one spot along the interior.
-
Cyprien takes aggressive but reliable angles and never shies away from contact. He and Reggie Nelson would be quite a tandem.
-
I do not think as highly of Elam as others do, though his pre-draft process has generated nothing but positive buzz thus far. He certainly puts together one heck of a highlight tape.
-
Tavon Austin would seem like a logical replacement for Percy Harvin, but I do not expect him to last this long. Allen creates separation with burst in and out of his breaks and also possesses reliable hands.
-
Even if he cannot gain enough weight to be considered a traditional defensive end in a three-man front, Jones plays with enough strength in his base and power in his hands to succeed at the position.
-
From my desk chair, Brown is a top-10 talent in this draft and can play inside linebacker or line up on the weak side. Flip on the 2011 tape against Robert Griffin III's Baylor team to catch a glimpse of his range.
-
The Packers are always tough to peg, but Swearinger would bring an edge to this secondary (which is losing a physical presence on the field in Charles Woodson).
-
Hopkins projects very similarly to Roddy White. He consistently high points passes and maneuvers his body in front of defenders. He also provides strong hands and underrated athleticism.
-
Defensive tackle is a possibility, but the Broncos re-signed Kevin Vickerson and have been linked to Terrance Knighton. Champ Bailey isn't getting younger, and Trufant has very quick feet to mirror receivers downfield.
-
Taylor might not be the biggest name, but he is an excellent all-around player and might be the top senior corner in this draft. He is skilled in both off and press-man coverage and consistently disrupts the catch point.
-
The Falcons are hurting for a pass rush, and Thomas Dimitroff's unwillingness to settle for prospects with off-field red flags leads him to Lemonier, who shows a lot of strength and closing speed from the edge.
-
Williams isn't just a nose tackle, as he played end in Alabama's three-man front in 2011. Finding a future replacement for Justin Smith should be a top priority.
-
GM Ozzie Newsome highly values the middle section of his defense. After losing both inside linebackers, Minter would offer consistency at one of those spots.
