Draft Analysis:

Bucky Brooks' take: Thompson is an intriguing athlete who could make an immediate impact as a pass-catching tight end. His combination of size and athleticism makes him a difficult matchup on the edge.

  • 6'6" Height
  • 259LBS. Weight

Thompson is a versatile prospect who projects to tight end in the NFL after playing defensive end in college. He intrigued scouts playing tight end at the Battle for the Rock all-star

game and also at his pro day -- but did not catch a pass at SMU as June Jones' offense doesn't allow for that role. At his pro day, Thompson impressed scouts by running the 40-yard dash in 4.59 and 4.56 seconds, displaying a 37-inch vertical and 10-foot-6 broad jumps, but average with 4.41-second short shuttle, 7.40-second three-cone and 22 strength lifts of 225 pounds. He also showed good hands going through tight end drills.
