Overview

O'Dowd is a knowledgeable and hard working center prospect, but lacks the durability and physical skill set to become a starter at the next level. He is like a coach on the field, as he makes terrific calls at the line and is quick to identify and pick up stunts and blitzes. However, he lacks the athleticism to thwart faster defensive lineman in pass protection and does not have the explosion or strength to lead a running attack. He has battled many injuries during his career and may not hold up physically, but O'Dowd has enough savy to make a roster and could be a late pick.

Strengths

O'Dowd is tall and thickly built. Extremely well prepared kid that understands blocking assignments and makes great adjustments. Very effective helping guards in pass protection. Sinks his hips well to thwart the bull rush and uses his hands to get inside. High effort kid who shows a bit of a mean streak.

Weaknesses

Does not have the strength to generate a good push in the running game. Keeps his feet moving but struggles to sustain blocks against stronger defenders. Not athletic enough to mirror defenders in space and rarely makes plays in the second level. Will lunge at times and is susceptible to double moves. Struggles to stay healthy.

Grade

2.3
