Overview

A two-year starter for the Trojans, Pinkard has outstanding size and strength for a cornerback but lacks great speed, quickness and lateral agility to play on the perimeter. He is a willing tackler but lacks great power and physicality in run support. He doesn't have great recovery burst and isn't quick to transition out of his pedal. Pinkard needs technique and route-recognition work to develop into a contributor at the next level. He has decent ball skills and flashes anticipation to make plays in the passing game. Pinkard possesses obvious size but lacks technique, natural instincts, speed, quickness and has durability concerns, which will hinder his draft status.

Strengths

Pinkard is a monster at the cornerback position, combining great height with a muscular build. Reads the quarterback's eyes and anticipates in the passing game. Has reliable hands and good body control to make interceptions. Fierce competitor who seeks out contact in run support.

Weaknesses

Does not have adequate speed and quickness. Lacks the hip fluidity to stick with receivers in-and-out of their cuts and is a liability in man coverage. Takes too many false steps and overall technique is sloppy. Does not give a good shot when tackling, despite his size. Suffered a serious knee injury at USC.
