Pick Analysis: He's an athlete with speed. He had an unbelievable pro day, running a 4.65 in the 40-yard dash. He came into Texas as a highly regarded running back before eventually transitioning to defensive end two years ago. He's got a great first move in the pass rush and really good explosion.
Overview
Melton (6-3 1/2, 269) ran a 4.64 and 4.66 in the 40-yard dash, posted a 34.5-inch vertical jump and 10-foot, 1-inch broad jump at the Texas Pro Day.
He's versatile, having switched from running back to defensive end in the 2006 season. He played in 24 games with 10 starts as a defensive end and 25 games with one start as a running back, and he also played on special teams.
