Overview
Vaughn is a slightly undersized interior defensive lineman who has strong skills and technique to play either a 3 technique or possibly even defensive end in a 3-4 scheme. He has a motor that doesn't stop and has strength to bull through blockers. He is active at the point of attack with his hands and displays an array of moves. A good scheme player who benefits from free lanes and stunts, Meatoga shows up as an athletic big man when pursuing ball carriers. He is active against the run and is able to get to ball carriers and be an active tackler from his position, making him potentially attractive at 3-4 defensive end despite his height. He doesn't have a ton of pass-rush value but should be selected near the fifth round and inserted into a defensive line rotation early.
Analysis
Weaknesses
Meatoga is a bit undersized and has trouble getting through blocks when linemen get their hands on him early. He can be inconsistent at times and will get stalled by linemen or disappear for stretches. If Meatoga can make a quick move or jolt an O-lineman early, he often finishes and makes a play. If he gets engaged quickly he has a tough time recovering and making any production.
