Overview

Jamison was one of the few bright spots in a year to forget for the Michigan program. Jamison contributed 50 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. While scouts acknowledge his consistency -- 2008 was the third consecutive season in which he posted at least five sacks -- much of his success is based on effort rather than standout quickness, strength or technique. An honorable mention All-Big Ten selection after each of the past two seasons, Jamison is no superstar, but in a class bereft of dependable pass rushers, his steady play will earn him consideration in the middle to late rounds.

Analysis

Strengths

Positives: Well-built athlete with good overall musculature. ... At least adequate initial quickness to pressure the edge. ... Strong upper body. ... Can pop the tackle and disengage quickly with impressive initial hand punch. ... Good lower-body strength to hold up at the point of attack. ... Instinctive defender that reads the action and puts himself in position to make a play on the ball. ... High effort when in pursuit. ... Can break down in space and make the open-field tackle. ... Flashes some explosiveness as a hitter. Negatives: Lacks elite athleticism. ... Only adequate initial quickness off the snap, agility around the tackle and straight-line speed in pursuit. ... Lacks the athleticism to project as a rush linebacker. ... Struggles to disengage if his initial speed or hand punch fail to create an open lane. ... Hasn't taken his game to the next level. ... May be a finished product with limited upside.
