Overview

Overview

McBride was a very productive four-year starter for the Hornets, clearly standing out at the Football Championship Subdivision level while accumulating 203 catches for 3,017 yards and 33 touchdowns. His receptions and yards dropped off in 2007 (50 catches netting 589 yards), mostly due to uneven quarterback play and increased attention, but he still managed to score nine times.

Analysis

Analysis

Positives: Tall, wiry frame. ... Quick off the line, he reaches top speed in a hurry. ... Also makes quick cuts. ... Can make the big play using his height and length to high-point the ball. ... Adjusts well to underthrown balls, using a swim move or cutting under the defender to snatch the ball with his hands. ... Shows more short-area quickness than expected, and is able to make the first defender miss after making the catch. ... Nice body control on short and deep routes. ... Can go down to get his arms under a low throw.

Negatives: Thin in the hips and legs, and no muscle definition in arms. ... Lacks the strength to get off the line against stronger NFL corners. ... Does not have great speed to separate downfield, and will have to prove himself able to hold off the defender to make a play. ... Occasionally uses his length to lock onto a corner while run blocking, but often lets them into the play too easily and does not sustain. ... Will find it more difficult to break tackles from stronger defensive backs in the pros.
