Overview

:

Felix was a four-year starter in El Paso who gained all-conference mention every season, including first-team honors as a senior. The durable pivot man and team captain on offense started 46 consecutive games and played hard through every whistle. His father, Larry, played guard for Boise State. He may not be drafted high, or even at all, because of his average athleticism. But Felix's nasty attitude and toughness inside will surely endear him to his new offensive line coach as a late Sunday pick or priority free agent. Had an arm span of 32 3/8 inches and a hand span of 9 1/2 inches at the combine.

Analysis

Strengths

: Positives: Good height, arm length and upper body strength. Good punch to shock defensive tackles, and uses it to keep defenders on the ground. Plays with a nasty attitude through the whistle. Makes the line calls and recognizes blitzers before the snap. Adequate movement on traps; able to get his hands on the numbers of linebackers and put them to the ground. Gives good effort blocking in space, using his whole body to try to bring the defender down. Uses his length to keep his hands on the defender while moving down the line of scrimmage. Accurate on shotgun snaps. Negatives: More of a mauler than an athlete in the middle. Stiff in the hips, and not especially flexible or quick laterally. Lumbers to get to the second level. Whiffs on cut blocks in space, and does not recover quickly. Lacks a great anchor, fighting off bull rushes adequately using his hands but loses ground in the process. Inexperienced as a drive blocker. Could be quicker getting his hands into his man's jersey.
