TE07
Riar Geer
TE Colorado
- 6'3" Height
- 33" Arm Length
- 256LBS. Weight
- 10 1/8" Hands
Overview
Geer is a good, short-zone receiving tight end who is a quality blocker, as well. He lacks prototypical height and speed for the position but does a nice job of reading the coverage and finding the throwing lanes to settle into on underneath routes. He catches the ball with soft, natural hands and has a wide receiving radius but is not going to beat many quality man-coverage linebackers. He lacks the speed to be much of a threat going down the seam and is not going to gain many yards after the catch but has a chance to be a backup at the next level based on his blocking skills and strength.
Analysis
Strengths
Geer has a thick, muscular build. Possesses reliable hands and makes catches away from his body. Finds soft spots in zone coverage and makes a lot of underneath grabs. Very capable blocker who generates a good push. Fierce competitor who fights until the whistle.
Weaknesses
Lacks ideal height for the position and does not have the speed to run past anyone at the next level. Does not have much of a burst and will struggle to separate against linebackers in man coverage. Limited fluidity prevents him from making people miss after the catch.
