Overview

Edwards has been a four-year starter and key part of the high-octane Houston offense. He is small but is fast and savvy enough to play right away as a slot receiver in the NFL. He understands defenses and how to sit down in holes vs. zone, making him a third-round talent who could also become a serviceable returner.

Analysis

Strengths

Edwards is athletic and very explosive and quick off the line. He has the feet and quickness to get his small frame away from bigger corners and stem himself into his route. He rolls off his front foot naturally and into his routes where he uses his knowledge of defenses to find holes and get open. Even when covered, he can easily stick his foot in the ground to separate. He has clear control of his small frame and knows how to use it to his advantage.

Weaknesses

Despite his speed and smaller frame, Ewards is not much of a deep threat and is almost exclusively a short-intermediate crafty route runner. He is willing as a blocker but doesn't have the strength to be effective there, and it also shows after the catch as he usually goes down on the first hit.
