Overview

Kristick was a productive, two-year starter for Oregon State. He was a durable linebacker over his career but there is a concern with the multiple stingers he has suffered. Kristick has a good frame but lacks bulk (especially in his lower body), which hinders his ability at the point of attack. He is a reliable tackler with decent pop and power on contact. He has good range in pursuit but lacks great quickness and lateral agility to change direction in space. He reads quickly but is inconsistent with his angles and run fits. He shows enough athleticism to be an effective zone coverage defender but may be exploited in pure man schemes. Kristick has limitations but possesses enough tools to be an effective backup as well as special teams contributor.

Analysis

Strengths

Kristick is tall with a large frame to support more bulk. Has the speed to make plays across the field and can stick with tight ends in man coverage. Consistently delivers a good shot and is a reliable tackler. Drops smoothly and recognizes route progression in zone coverage. Very productive in the Pac-10.

Weaknesses

Lacks the bulk to take on bigger blockers and will not be an anchor against the run. A bit stiff in the hips and loses speed in transition. Takes too many false steps and does not always pursue with proper angles. Over-aggressive and bites on play-action too often. Suffers a lot of stingers.
