Overview

Davis has great length for the offensive tackle position, but he lacks the flexibility to consistently block defensive ends at the next level. He is stiff in the hips and tends to lean forward when engaging which limits his ability to anchor and makes him susceptible to double moves. He does not drive defenders off the ball in the running game, but he flashes the athleticism to make blocks in space in the second level. He also has a strong upper body and delivers a powerful punch. Davis plays with poor leverage, but has enough tools to be a late round pick.

Analysis

Strengths

Davis is tall with a great frame. Heady player that maintains sound position and easily adjusts to stunts and blitzes. Delivers a strong initial punch and can lock out his long arms to push edge rushers past the pocket. Fluid in space, takes proper angles to the second level and can block linebackers.

Weaknesses

Does not have the lower body strength to generate a push in the running game and fails to sink his hips to remain stout against the bull rush. Inconsistent kick step prevents him from always engaging quicker edge rushers. Plays too high and with a narrow base. Lacks a mean streak and does not always finish blocks.
