Overview

Lefeged is an in-the-box safety that does not tackle well enough to assume this role at the next level. He gets good depth when dropping into coverage, but lacks the speed to be a center fielder. He also struggles to locate the ball carrier in run support and does not show the ability to shed and wade through traffic. He is aggressive at the point of attack, but he is not a strong tackler and is run through far too often. Lefeged is a tough football player that could contribute on special teams in the NFL and might be a rookie free agent.

Analysis

Strengths

Lefeged has a compact muscular build. Maintains sound position and does not bite on play action. Flashes the ability to stick with tight ends in man coverage. Tracks the ball well in the air and has reliable hands to make interceptions. Has a knack for forcing fumbles.

Weaknesses

Does not have the speed to cover the deep middle. Tight hips prevent him from covering running backs in man coverage. Lacks the ball skills and closing burst to be a true ball hawk. Late reading the run and struggles to shed blockers. Takes poor angles in run support and does not deliver big shots when tackling.
