Overview

James is a good college running back but lacks any outstanding qualities that would make him stand out above the rest. He shared time at Miami and ended up as the team’s third leading rusher with 492 yards. He is a one cut ball carrier that hits the hole with a good burst but lacks the speed and overall elusiveness to take it all the way once he gets to the second level. He is not always patient for the hole to develop and still needs to get stronger in order to finish his runs off better. He has had durability issues in the past that could effect how high he goes.

Analysis

Strengths

James shows some good initial quickness. He displays impressive burst through the hole. He exhibits good vision past the line of scrimmage, will cut across the grain and find creative ways to pick up extra yardage. He’s a really high effort player who leaves it all on the field.

Weaknesses

James only possesses adequate size for the position and likely can’t handle the load. Does not have the speed to be a true home run threat. Despite his vision, he has limited cutback skills and won’t deliver too many explosive plays. Blocking and blitz pickup needs works.
