Receivers in a spread offense aren't typically 6-feet-3 and 210 pounds, but Orton's an exception to the rule. He moved the chains consistently throughout his career, averaging 65 receptions for 754 yards and four touchdowns over his three seasons as a starter.

The strength he gained through hard work during his days in West Lafayette certainly paid dividends against smaller defensive backs in college, although his lack of elite speed may make the transition to the NFL a difficult one. Had an arm span of 33 3/8 inches and a hand span of 9 1/4 inches at the combine.

Positives: Long, lean build. Good height and long arms to snatch the ball out of the air against smaller cornerbacks. Does a lot of the little things well. Savvy route-runner who utilizes good body control and balance to generate separation as a route-runner. Reliable hands. Generally snatches balls out of the air with his big, soft hands, but will allow balls into his chest when expecting a big hit. Willing to go over the middle. Can track the ball over his shoulder for the fade. Uses his size and strength well downfield as a blocker. Negatives: Bit of a one-trick pony as a possession receiver. Lacks deep speed. Marginal burst out of his snaps, despite being a good route-runner. Will struggle to generate separation from NFL cornerbacks. Lacks the fluidity and agility to make plays after the catch. Not the physical dominator against smaller corners that his size would indicate. Not an explosive leaper.
