Overview
With all of the talk of quarterback Brian Brohm and receiver Henry Douglas, Barnidge was quietly the secret to Louisville's offensive success in 2007. While he isn't going to knock many defenders off the ball at only 230 pounds. Barnidge is a very reliable short- and medium-range target. His size, physicality and secure hands make him a quality security blanket option available on the draft's second day.
Analysis
Strengths
Positives: Good size potential. ... Long, gangly frame with lots of room for additional growth. ... Used in a variety of formations -- including the traditional tight end role, movement, out of the slot, etc. ... Reliable short- and medium-range route-runner. ... Uses his size well to shield defenders from the ball. ... Catches the ball cleanly, secures it and looks to gain positive yardage. ... Best attribute might be his reliable hands. ... Good timed speed and flashes the speed to challenge deep down the seam. ... Good effort as an inline blocker. ... Hard worker.
Negatives: Has struggled to add and maintain weight throughout his career. ... Simply isn't strong or stout enough at this time to operate as an inline blocker in the NFL. ... Good timed speed, but is a bit stiff and struggles to generate separation.
