Duane Brown, OT

Overview

Overview

A former tight end, Brown is an intriguing developmental prospect who has made significant improvement throughout since moving to offensive tackle three years ago. Blessed with rare straight-line speed for the position, Brown remains a bit of a project, but developed better use of his hands and knee bend as a senior. A strong showing during the week of practice at the East-West Shrine Game had scouts buzzing about Brown as a potential mid-round pick who could emerge as a future starter with continued development.

Analysis

Analysis

Positives: Developing build. ... Remains a bit light for the position, but has a solid upper body with long arms. ... Rare straight-line speed for the position and flashes foot quickness and balance. ... Good anchor and flexibility to handle the bull rush. ... Can get to the second level and deliver a blow. ... Some nastiness in his play.

Negatives: Still smoothing out the edges. ... Despite his straight-line speed, has only marginal change of direction and balance. ... Plays high and will stop moving his feet at times. ... Adequate hand placement, causing him to struggle in sustaining his blocks. ... Sometimes seems satisfied with just walling off defenders rather than generating true movement in the running game.
