Overview

Overview

Undersized and hailing from small school Appalachian State, some teams will fail to do their homework on this explosive slot receiver and return prospect and pay the price later. The Michigan Wolverines certainly did when they underestimated Jackson's speed, and he burned them for three catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Invited to the East-West Shrine Game and later the Senior Bowl, Jackson's quick feet, blazing speed and secure hands stood out among prospects initially rated higher.

High School

Caught 30 passes for 520 yards, including two for touchdowns as a senior ... in 2003, he returned two kickoffs, as well as one punt for touchdown.

Analysis

Analysis

Positives: Rare quickness. ... Good burst off the snap and generates separation from defenders with suddenness out of his breaks. ... Catches the ball cleanly and heads upfield to generate positive yards after the catch. ... Elusive open-field runner who shows the vision to set up his blocks and make a short play a long touchdown. ... Good ability to track the ball over his shoulder. ... Stepped up his game against elite competition - coming through with a two-touchdown game to upset Michigan and was among the most pleasant surprises during the Shrine Game and Senior Bowl week of practices.

Negatives: Lacks size preferred for the position. ... Competitive, but loses out on jump balls and can be re-routed too easily due to his lack of bulk. ... Seemed to answer questions about his level of competition with strong performances against Michigan and in all-star games, but vast majority of success came against inferior talent.
